Iron floc shiboridashi 3.5oz, 02

$135.00

2h x 4.25w, holds between 3-3.5oz

A shiboridashi is a palm-sized Japanese teapot used for brewing very small quantities of strong, high quality green teas. Leaves are placed directly into the pot with a small amount of water such that the flavor is essentially squeezed from the leaves by the pot itself.

This shiboridashi is wheelthrown and decorated with textured slips and and all over oxide wash in an homage to the vast iron flocs of Iceland. Rich red/orange deposits dot the landscape throughout the mountains, reminding me of the very clay with which I form my pots. It has been sanded to a finish that begs to be touched.

Handwashing is recommended.
